Sparkling Drinks Continue to Replace Still Water
The study “Attitudes and Perceptions Related to Healthy Eating” carried out by EXACT Market Research Institute shows that basic foodstuffs for Romanian are: potato and white bread.
The responses to the question ‘Have you personally consumed the following foodstuffs in the last week?’ confirm the hypothesis that Romanians heavily consumes potatoes which rank on the first place: 94% of them mention to have consumed potatoes in the last week. But a large percent of respondents consume boiled or baked potatoes compared with fried potatoes eaten by a small number (78% as compared with 54%).
The potato is followed by white bread (76%) and still water (67%). What do the remaining persons drink? 58% of those stating they have not consumed still water drank sparkling, cooling juices. Therefore, still water which should be consumed in proportion of 100% drops in value and loses ground again in front of sparkling juices, 14% of Romanian specifying they drink only effervescent juices instead of still water.
Other foodstuffs consumed in the last week by the urban population aged between 15 and 60 are: cheese + melted cheese - 61%, simple yoghourt -59%, chocolate, candies - 58%, honey - 55%, black bread - 52%, salami/rosy sausage/sausages – 49%.
