Young People from Romania Consume Less Fruit than Persons Aged 45 or More!

The study “Attitudes and Perceptions Related to Healthy Eating” carried out by the Market Research Institute - EXACT Research and Consulting during the period 24th of March – 1st of April shows that young people from Romania consumes less fruit than daily needed according to rules.

According to data provided by Exact Research and Consulting, young people aged between 15 and 29 eat fruit to a less extent than persons aged between 45 and 60. Therefore, of all the young persons interviewed, only 59% have consumed fresh fruit 6-7 times a week, for the last week, in comparison with 73% of persons aged between 45 and 60 who have consumed fresh fruit 6-7 times a week.
As regards the variety of fruit consumed, the same study indicates that all young people consumed at least one fruit in the last week, 37% of the respondents consumed one or two different fruit in the last week, while 47% consumed 3 or 4 different fruit during the same interval. A greater variety of the fruit consumed (5 different fruit or more) has characterized only 16% of the respondents. The first lead in the top young preferences was gained by bananas and oranges. Young people would rather eat, less than other categories by age, fruit such as grapefruit, mandarins/clementines, apples and pears, specifies Exact Research and Consulting within the study “Attitudes and Perceptions Related to Healthy Eating”.

The study carried out on a sample of 553 persons interviewed via the telephone is representative for the adult (15-60 years old), non-institutionalized population, living in Romania, displaying a maximum sampling error of 4.2%, guaranteed for an assurance probability of 95%.
